Rare chance to meet up with the Fire Fighters and Fire trucks

Last Thursday, there was a fire drill in The Grandstand organized by Bukit Batok Fire Station. At first, we thought that it will involve the entire premises but they are only here to test out the water hydrants.

The children took turns to look at the fire trucks outside the school corridor. When we saw them started to pack away, we decided to bring only the children from Mixed Fruits class down to take a look. (Due to safety reason as there are water hoses on the ground and floor are wet, so the toddler and N1 children stayed back in the school)

 The children from Mixed Fruits class walked down the stairs like how we had our fire drill and we checked with the firefighters and they said we could take a closer look at the different fire trucks.

Thank you very much Firefighters. My teachers taught me about community helper this week and now I can understand better between Fire truck and Firefighter.

If you are interested to bring your child to visit the fire station, Here is some information for you.

Every Saturday from 9am to 11am, many of Singapore's fire stations open up for tours where kids are invited to explore a fire truck, try equipment such as spraying special water guns, and learn how firemen slide down the fire pole.  The children will get a kick out of meeting the firemen and understanding more about these heroes in the community.  

Fire stations offering an open house:  Alexandra Fire Station, Ang Mo Kio Fire Station, Bishan Fire Station, Bukit Batok Fire Station, Central Fire Station, Changi Fire Station, Clementi Fire Station, Jurong Fire Station, Paya Lebar Fire Station, Sengkang Fire Station, Tuas Fire Station, Woodlands Fire Station, Yishun Fire Station, Tampines Fire Station.

You can simply walk in and register on the spot, for groups of less than 10 people – so, remember to bring your photo ID (Passport or any ID with photo). Remember to dress in light, cool clothes, as all the activities are conducted outdoors.
