Chinese lesson - Baked Sweet Potato 烤地瓜

I always heard the children say they liked to eat "Yakiimo" when they went to the supermarket, so I decided to make "Baked Sweet Potato" during the Chinese Lesson.

"Who knows what is this?" "Sweet Potato" In Chinese, we can call it 地瓜 or 红薯

The children choose the sweet potato and wash their own potato.

Wrap it with aluminium foil and put it into the oven to bake it 

"Ting!" The sweet potatoes are really. It's time for the children to taste it.

好吃吗? Is it yummy?

It's Yummy! 好吃!

" 可以再给我一个吗？ "Can I have one more, please?

"谢谢" Thank You

[MF] Have Fun with Chinese

It was fun, and the whole lesson was full of laughter. Everything I said turned out to be "Sushi!"

We begin the class with the number counting to see how many children are present for the day.

一，二， 三， 四， 五，六，。。。。。 十五， 十六， 十七 (shi qi)。

今天有十七个小朋友。

Jo 老师， why sushi? 

"Sushi?"

"Yes, you said we have sushi friends."

No sushi, 十七 is seventeen！ Haha

We continued with the storytelling about the "Happy Chicks" 幸福的小鸡

The story talks about the 公鸡 gong ji（Rooster），母鸡 mu ji（Mother Hen) and 小鸡 xiao ji (little chicks), and how they lived together happily.

Children asked me again

Jo 老师， why the mother hen's name is sushi?

Haha, are you hungry? All laugh, and yes, we want sushi for lunch!

mǔ jī 母鸡 

After the story, we played the game 老鹰抓小鸡

One child will be the eagle, and one child will be the mother hen to protect the chicks.

Left 2 little baby chicks were a little nervous, so grandma Hen came to protect them.

Before the lesson ends, Khine sensei be the mother hen to protect her little chicks, and I will be the eagle hunting for food.

Khine sensei is a strong mother hen that protects her little chicks well; I did not manage to catch any chicks for lunch.
