節分のお祝い

2月3日は節分の日でした。キッズルーでも、皆で豆まきをしましたので、ご紹介します。

Chinese New Year Celebration (Part 2)

Our Celebration begins with 2 lions led by Tina sensei and the K2 boys, performing in front of the children. All the children are so excited, even our younger friends who are a little nervous at the beginning, also able to enjoy the lion dance.

Next, two long "dragons made by the Friends of Mixed Fruits class joined in. The girls, holding the dragon and danced around the younger friends and in the end, all the friends from Toddler, N1 and N2 also joined in and the dragons grew even longer.

Children taking turns doing the Lion dance. While waiting for their turns, they are picking up the orange peels and lettuce to throw at each other and wish their friends "gong xi gong xi!"

New Year Goodies tasing were their favourite part. Eating Love letters and Kueh Bahulu

Kizroo children and teachers wish everyone "peace, good health and immense happiness"

建国記念の日 (National Foundation Day / Japan)

今日は、日本の建国記念の日です。

建国記念の日とは、日本ができた「日」をお祝いするのではなく、日本という国ができた「こと」を、お祝いする日です。

日本の国ができたことを知り、国を愛し、国の発展を願う日。

シンガポールのナショナルデイとはお祝いの仕方が違うけれど、国を思う気持ちは同じです。

みんなで大切に過ごしたいですね。

Chinese New Year Celebration (Part 1)

GongXi GongXi. We started our Chinese New Year with "What to bring when we go visiting during Chinese New Year?" Banana, Pineapple or Mandarin orange?

A traditional gift during Chinese New Year is the exchanging of a pair of mandarin oranges and the giving of a red packet containing an even amount of money.

This year, we have invited our very own Lion Dance troupe to perform the lion dance. In Chinese culture, the lion symbolizes power, wisdom, and superiority. People perform lion dances at Chinese festivals or big occasions to bring good fortune and chase away evil spirits. The lion dance is one of the most important traditions of the Chinese New Year.

A blessing ceremony is held before a new lion’s first dance as we have a few new lions. The purpose of the ritual is to empower the lion to fulfil its duty of bringing about protection, good luck, health, and prosperity to those present. In Chinese culture, the eyes reflect the spirit and thus, the last step before the lion comes alive is for its eyes to be dotted.

The drum and cymbals sound started, here comes our very own Kizroo Lion Dance Performers!

The Lions perform the traditional custom of "cai qing" (採青), literally meaning "plucking the greens", whereby the lion plucks the auspicious green lettuce hung on a pole
